How to create a single product on Tracepos

Welcome back to another exciting episode of Tracepos Tutorials. In today's episode, we will walk you through the step-by-step process of creating a product on Tracepos. So, grab your notepad and let's dive right in.

Step 1: Accessing Product Manager

To create a product on Tracepos, first, log into your account and select the Product Manager menu. In the drop-down menu, click on "Products" and then hit the "Add New Product" button.

Step 2: Product Type

Now you will be presented with options. For the product type, choose "Single type Product" since we're starting with a single product.

Step 3: Warehouse Selection

Under the Warehouse option, you will see the warehouse from which you created the product. If needed, you can click the plus button beside the warehouse input to create a new warehouse.

Step 4: Product Name and Slugfield

Next, enter the product name, and the slugfield will be automatically generated by Tracepos.

Step 5: Categories and Brand

Under the Categories section, select the category you previously created or create a new one. Similarly, select a brand or create a new brand.

Step 6: Unit of Measurement

Now, let's set the unit of measurement. Click on the plus sign to create a new unit of measurement. For instance, you can type "Piece" in the Short name field as "Piece" or "PC."

Step 7: Quantity Alert

In the Quantity Alert field, input the quantity at which you want Tracepos to issue a low stock warning. For this example, I will use five.

Step 8: Barcode Symbology

In the Barcode symbology section, select code128. If the item already has a barcode, scan it into the Item code field. Otherwise, click on Generate to create a new one if the item doesn't come with a barcode.

Step 9: Price and Tax

Moving on to the Price and Tax section of the form, you can create a tax if it doesn't already exist in the system. For example, for Nigeria, we will create a VAT tax. Click on the plus sign next to the tax input. Enter VAT as the name. Select Single as the tax type. Set the tax rate to 7.5 and click on the Create button. Now select VAT as the tax for the product.

Step 10: Opening Stock and Purchase Price

In the opening stock field, enter the available quantity of the product. For this example, I will enter ten. Enter the purchase price of the item inclusive of tax. If the item is already taxed, select with Tax in the options if applicable. Otherwise, choose without tax. If you will apply tax for the product when it's not already taxed, repeat the same process for the sales price. Enter the sales price with or without tax. Leave the MRP (Maximum Retail Price) field blank as it is used for production purposes. Finally, click on Create.
